what's better: teaching math or teaching ELA?

Published about 1 year ago • 1 min read

Hey there, Reader,

I know I have been a little quiet, but if you remember, I had a baby who just happens to be three months old now.

Look, she has this sixth sense. She knows when I am around. For the life of me, I cannot get much done when I am at home. I have been staying at school an hour later each day to work on things, but you know how normal teaching tasks like grading and such can take over that time easily.

If I can, I sneak into the office at home and try to get things done if she falls asleep. Lately, she hasn't been doing much of that unless I drive here around in the car. That's great for listening to audio books, but bad for making math activities and writing emails.

What I have managed to get done in the snippets of time I find is record a FREE workshop on using reading comprehension strategies to teach word problems.

It's actually the first module of my PopPD course which has been a year in the making, but is going live this month also.

Why? I mention the PoPPD in the workshop as a means of putting a deadline on myself. I work well with deadlines.

So, if you want a taste of the first module of the PoPPD course, register for the Cheerful ELA conference.

I know - I teach math - but I swear you can improve your students word problem accuracy by teaching reading comprehension skills during your math block. You also have the opportunity to see how to integrate writing into you math block from presenter Jay Brown.

Because many of you ALSO teach ALL subjects, I know you will appreciate the other presentations by fantastic teachers covering everything from spelling, to reading, and writing.

You’ll be able to binge watch as many sessions as you want Netflix style and learn about what you and your students want to change/need to improve on.

Looking forward to seeing you in the event Facebook group!

Cheers!

Hey there, Reader, I messed up yesterday, and in the event that I do it again, I want to apologize. You see, I changed email service providers and haven't figured it all out yet. Even though I thought I removed my math audience from my TpT selling audience, I guess I didn't. That means I sent a whole lot of you an email that I managed to write before bed when I only meant to send it to a fraction of the list. In any event, this a good time to mention to all my math people that I have shifted...

Happy almost Wednesday, Reader, I had to share this awesome tip with you because I know how valuable your time is. I know you’re busy researching your titles for your TpT products. I also know you are busy creating amazing resources that teachers need. That’s why it’s so important that your product show up on TpT when a teacher searches for it. The best way to ensure that is to make sure your product is searchable. How do you do that? Keywords - short and long tail keywords. If you aren't...
